The 2007 KOOL Kids (Kids Out On the Lake) was a great success, with 263 of the valleys third graders enjoying a day at the Lake. The event, hosted by the MWD on Wednesday August 22, featured booths teaching fish identification, water quality protection, lake statistics, water safety, and fishing. Every girl and boy caught a fish, enjoyed a pontoon boat ride provided by Big Bear Marina, and a hot dog lunch. The objective of this annual event is to provide the children of our valley a fun experience on one of the true recreational gems of Southern California, Big Bear Lake, and teach them about water safety, water quality protection, and fun water sports they can enjoy right here at home.
